Processing tailor-made workpieces on machines or by hand requires not only mathematical and material-related knowledge but also extreme precision. Tool mechanics also need good spatial imagination in order to put the often complex drawings into practice.
Even though filing, drilling and sawing are still the basis for metal processing, state-of-the-art technology is playing an increasingly important role in training to become a tool mechanic. During the three and a half year training, the trainees learn a lot about extrusion, punching and cutting tools as well as sophisticated clamping devices for CNC turning and milling machines as well as customized processing machines for the further processing of technical extruded parts.
